“I wonder what the future holds?”—a common expression made by Hwee Chieh’s partner. She loves this phrase as it reminds her of the many cherished similarities and differences they share. One highly artistic and novel, the other knowledgeable and inquisitive, at the root is curiosity, creativity and imagination. Both wonder, one at stunning visuals, the other at life’s complexity. Both ideate, one at the possibilities in art, the other at frameworks that explains the world around us. Both are creative, one through aesthetics, the other through problem solving. For them, difference is often an illusion to be broken. This quote by her partner, reminds her that even though we might be facing opposite directions, perhaps we are opposite sides of the same coin.
While we may look up to the same sky and see a different view;
Yet when we share what we see, we often see with more clarity.
This piece invites us to look at the night sky again, to join the man inside and wonder together. Allow ourselves to be curious again, to be inquisitive once more, to be open, to be sensitive, to feel, to reflect, to imagine freedom, and to ask the question, “I wonder what the future holds?”.
